We trust Ichiban Boshi, and thus we decided to give Ichiban Sushi a try too.
Verdict
Not worth paying for these food at a restaurant price. Perhaps a stall in a food court selling cheaper Japanese food, could probably come out with something similar (or even better) in taste, as compared to Ichiban Sushi. Our advise, opt for Ichiban Boshi instead. Under the same restaurant company, similar food pricings, but definitely worthier.
Sizzling Black Pepper Chicken Chawanmushi Set, S$14.90++,
Delicious it may seem; do not get decieved by your eyes. The Sizzling Chicken, a good concept - but it would be better off with more black pepper sauce as the the sizzler dried up the sauce quickly, and what left was just the chicken and some solid parts of the (doubtfully black pepper) sauce. The first bite of the chicken gave quite a sensational crisp, but the flesh that followed was too hard and dry. The only thumbs up was the Chawanmushi, steamed to soft smooth goodness.Cha Soba and Mini Katsu Don Set, S$12.90++,
The Cha Soba was very stale; noodles were very rigid; the ends of the strands got stuck together; nothing about it to command a good from us. For the Katsu Don, the chicken became soggy when soaked together with the tamago (egg), and the big green peas were very out of place.Hokkaido Banana Split, S$6.90++,
After two disheartening main courses, we didn't held high hopes of the dessert. But surprisingly, the Hokkaido Banana Split rounded up the meal befittingly. This combination of fresh banana slices, green tea and vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge, and white chocolate flakes, worked well with our taste buds. The green tea ice cream had the right amount of green tea taste; the whipped cream was not too much to disgust; and the white chocolate flakes were thin enough to melt in your mouth. Sweet.Verdict

Yours sincerely,

It's super good! Esp the abalone salad sushi.
Perhaps you should try their sushi instead of just the proper "cooked" meals?
